Moscow Museums part 3
That's the third page of my Moscow museums review. Click this link to go to the beginning.
If you're into history of WWII - consider the Central War Museum.
I thought I knew pretty much about the War. Well, I was totally wrong.
This Moscow museum stunned me with dioramas, war chronicles, rare photos and facts that I was completely unaware of. It turned out I didn't know zilch about the history of my country. Well, so long for the good grades!
Be sure to visit the military exhibition right next to the museum, with tanks, planes and fortifications to get some unique "hand-on" experience!

After you're through, enjoy the beautiful "Park Pobedy" that lies around. A great strolling place in summer, it has fountains, flowerbeds, beautiful sights and lots of space to go around - that famous Russian vastness!
Bakhrushin museum is probably unique both by size and by content. Well, at least I haven't heard of anything like it.
It has quite a story. Alexey Bakhrushin started gathering theatrical things for his own amusement in 1894. Everything changed when the revolution came - the "Bolsheviks" considered his collection to be too "bourgeois", and Alexey had to struggle hard to protect it. Slowly his little hobby grew to the work of his entire life.

The collection has sketches of decorations, scenic outfits of great actors, props, show bills and rare theatrical books. There are myriads of exhibits, so each time you come you'll see a different exposition!
If your Russian is good - drop by the lecture hall. You'll have a chance to meet some of TV and theater stars!
I wasn't lucky so far, but I'll keep my faith and who knows - maybe Ill get that autograph some day!
As you probably guessed, Cosmonautics museum is all about the history of Soviet spaceflight.
Although it was opened in 1981, the idea belonged to Sergey Korolev - the father of Soviet space program. His memorial house is some mile away, near VDNH main entrance.
You'll gaze at satellites and space suits, see the lunar vehicle and the even picture the legendary Sputnik! Some exhibits are copies for sure, others are real, but in any case you won't tell the difference - they are reproduced to the finest detail!

This museum is not only about technology. It's about dreams, about everything that space used to symbolize - a hope for the better tomorrow and the might of mankind. It's about the future you see in the old sci-fi movies, where people would spend a weekend on the moon. Well, who knows? Maybe some day...
You'll find the museum easily - just look for the tall monument that symbolizes a rocket taking off.
Can't miss!
