Top Moscow Attractions

Moscow attractions is a must. Really, it would be a shame to visit the city and not to enjoy some of its magnificient rides.

UPDATE: There is a newer article available here.

But where do you find them? Where is THE place to have some fun?

Well, mostly they are scattered here and there, but there's one place that has them all. The incarnation of joy, the Russian Disneyland. The famous Gorky Park!

You've probably heard that name before. During the Perestroika, there was a music band of the same name. They became quite famous in the West, but dissapeared later on.

This is also the name of the political thriller by Martin Cruz Smith, which was later filmed.

As you can see, Gorky Park is a well-established brand. A pity it's got nothing in common with the actual place.

The real Gorky Park has got nothing to do with rock music, political thrillers, or space aliens.

It's just a very good amusement park with 80 years of history, named after Maxim Gorky, a famous Russian writer.

The best Moscow attractions are located in Chudo-grad ("City of Wonders"). You will find it easily once you are inside the park. A big fairy-tale dragon marks the spot!

Ride the Ferris wheel to get a great view on the park and Moskva river! Splash yourself from head to toe on bumper boats and "Niagara falls"! Join the fiery laser shootout in "Q-Zar", and scream with excitement on rollercoasters!

And for dessert - get inside the famous Russian space shuttle "Buran"! The kids will love it!

Can you see the shuttle?

Sounds like too much adrenaline? Don't worry! You have plenty other options on how to spend your time.

For example, you can rent a boat or an aqua-bicycle, and glide peacefully across the calm waters of the lake. Or you can have your kids ride a pony! I'm sure they'll thank you for that!

A peaceful view

When it gets cold and all Moscow attractions are closed, Gorky Park turns into one big skating rink. So you see, you can enjoy it in winter as well!

If the crowd made you tired, escape to the nearby Neskuchny sad. This enormous botanic garden lies right next to Gorky Park. It's very quiet and peaceful, and has several 18 century manors

for you to have a look at. Its quiet alleys will help you regain your strength for the new adventures!

You can get to Gorky Park from Park Kultury and Oktiabr'skaya metro stations.

Its some 15 minutes by feet. Need a map of Moscow metro? Its right here.

Good luck and have fun!
