Autumn Season in Moscow
Autumn season... it's chilly, rainy and joyless. The leaves are falling, no birds around but crows, and all that expects you is a long, cold winter.
Wow, I can sound quite depressed, don't you think? Well, autumn is no time for feeling down! Come on, cheer up - there're many things to do even this time of the year!

In fact, autumn season can be very beautiful - if you know where to look. It's not called "golden autumn" for nothing! Plus, autumn can be really warm and sunny - sometime in the beginning of September.A great time to rest from the blazing heat of Russian summer!
Am I missing something? Ahh, yes! That same, boring, eternal question. No, it's not "to be or not to be". It's rather "to wear or not to wear"!
When autumn has just arrived, dress like you'd dressed during Russian spring. You know, jeans, thin jacket, things like that. As long as the wind doesn't get through - you're fine. And don't forget an umbrella!

Adjust your clothes as it becomes colder. Dress warmer than needed - you can always take off your jacket if it's too hot.
Be ready for floods. Pack a couple of waterproof boots - the rains will be getting harder and harder! It really sucks to wet your feet in autumn, so either be ready or watch out for puddles!
A flu shot is a good idea. Influenza loves autumn season, so better protect yourself in advance. Shouldn't be a problem, but make sure you're vaccinated against the right strain! There are many types of this virus around, each region has its own. Tell the doctor where you're heading before he sticks a needle in you!

OK, you're dressed up and ready. What's next?
You're right to think autumn is not the best time to visit Moscow, but there's a little secret about it. In the beginning of September it usually becomes warm and sunny. That period is called "Bab'e leto" ("indian summer"), and it's the best time to walk around!
Every city in Moscow region celebrates "City Day" exactly at this time. That's the last chance to get the people out before the colds hit - otherwise they'll just stay at home.
And that would be a shame, because every "City Day" is a true celebration. In Moscow, we have performances, shows and concerts. Celebrities are all around the place, sometimes there's even too much of them! Kids with balloons, free tasty meals, lots of Russian stuff... Definitely worth your time!

If you aren't a fan of big crowds, why don't visit botanic garden? There's a large one right near "VDNH". If the moment is right, you'll learn the true meaning of words "golden autumn"!
It's going to be a hard day for your camera's memory card - you'll be taking pictures non-stop! Be sure it's large enough to store all of those magic moments!
Will it handle the stress?
